Binge eating:

a wise message from your body.

We binge eat when our most vulnerable parts are in need of connection.

But if we don’t know how to access and meet those parts of us without reaching for food, we never break the cycle of binge eating.

I work with women like you, to learn how to relate to these most vulnerable parts of yourself so you can embrace them with love, offer them the connection that they have been yearning for and bring them back into safety.

While right now you might be seeing your binge eating as a huge issue within your life, in Find Your Freedom, I teach you how to see your urge to binge as a deep call for connection from within.

And it’s time for you to learn how to listen and communicate with it so that you can transform the stress and trauma held within you and truly change your relationship to food.

If you have been struggling with binge eating, your body image and your weight for as long as you can remember, I imagine that you might also experience -

  • A lot of inner stress and overwhelm

  • Exhaustion and low motivation

  • Anxiety, panic and rushed thoughts

  • Low moods

    Chronic pain and fatigue

These are all symptoms of a chronically dysregulated nervous system due to unprocessed, stuck stress and trauma living within you. 

What is trauma and Why is it the Basis of this Programme?

Trauma is not what happened to you, but what happens within your body as a result of what happened to you. It is the incomplete survival responses that switched on at a time that you were facing a huge threat to your life (one which you may or may not be aware of).

And for you, food became a place that you could come to for comfort, soothing, and what we call in somatic work, resource. 

So while I know right now, food is causing you so much stress and making you very unhappy, I need you to know that food at one point, served to save your life. 

It was a place of refuge when nothing and no one else could support you when you needed it most. And it remains that way, until you teach and guide your nervous system down new pathways to feel and truly experience safety. 

While your body is physically safe now, your nervous system still perceives that threat is present. Your body has not yet connected to and attuned to your survival. The body echos the threat of the past and anticipates the threat of the future in the present moment and you use food to disconnect and dissociate from the intensity of your inner experience.

There is really nothing wrong with your eating patterns. There is nothing wrong with you, it’s not your fault and you are not to blame. They are a perfectly normal response to the kind of environment you have been exposed to and the experiences that you had to endure.

Your binge eating is a perfectly normal response to what your human body and human heart had to experience.

What we explore in this programme are gentle, approachable and sustainable ways that we can relate to stress and trauma living within your body and find safety within yourself so that you no longer need to turn to food.

Learn the language of sensation

We will come into contact with the subtle communication and language of the body so that you can build a life long connection and trusted relationship with yourself.

Discover how to find safety within your body

We will build the foundations within your body that create an inner sense of safety. As you begin to experience the safety that already lives within you, you won’t need to depend on external resources such as food.

Have a somatic awareness and understanding of trauma

It’s one thing to have a cognitive understanding of trauma and it’s another to actually be able to feel what that means inside of your body. Through developing this awareness you’ll be able to support yourself to navigate life through your own pace and capacity and make decisions that truly nourish you and support the life you want to live

How to somatically experience food

Learn how to eat food with your body instead of your mind and actually perceive the safety that food offers you. De-shaming your eating choices, whatever they are will bring a state of peace within and dissolve the need for future binging.

Exploring current food rituals and building new ones

We will explore your current food rituals and how the support they are currently providing your body, whilst also developing new practices to meet your bodies needs without binging. We’ll also explore ways in which you can create food habbits and rituals that truly nourishing you

Nourished beyond food: How to come to food, full.

Binge eating is often the result of a body that is experience deprivation; emotionally, physically, spiritually and mentally. We’ll explore how to nourish your body beyond food that that every time you arrive to food, you arrive feeling nourished, full and well.

Somatic practices to transform trauma and stress through your body

You’ll discover how to support your body through activating trauma responses and into a state of peace and safety through a library of somatic practices that you can use at almost every time of the day.

5 months of gentle (and sometimes fierce) guidance, somatic exploration, embodied presence and trauma resolution to create revolutionary change in your life.

This container has been created with overloaded and overwhelmed systems in mind and the resources offered to you are mindful of that and shared with you with careful consideration.

15 x live calls

We meet every week, 3 times a month for 5 months, for a 90 minute live call.

These sessions take you through the main teaching modules, through a trauma informed, deeply curious, shame free, explorative and spacious way of working.

ONE-TO-ONE SESSION

Included in the programme is a one-to-one session with me where we can deepen into your personal journey together.

ACCESS TO ME BETWEEN SESSIONS / COMMUNITY SUPPORT 

There will be a private community group where you have access to me and the other amazing, tender hearted humans Mon - Fri between the live sessions. This space is gold and has long been one of the most valuable spaces for past participants.

HEY LOVE, I'm Alex,

I'm so pleased that you are here. 

I used to be someone who was disconnected, disembodied and lived my life in a state of shutdown. Overwhelm was my baseline (although I didn’t actually know that at the time) and my body could not cope with it, so it would regularly collapse into a state of freeze.

I would struggle to get on with doing anything that I wanted or needed to. I battled for many years with binge eating disorder, I despised my body, I always felt like I had to prove myself and I had absolutely no idea what boundaries were. I thought I had to be responsible for everyone around me, I struggled to trust people and I really did not know how to express myself authentically which greatly impacted my relationships. Through all this, I thought that where was something truly wrong with me.

Until … I learnt & discovered that I was living with chronic nervous system dysregulation as a result of unprocessed trauma.

Through working somatically & letting my body lead, I was able to stop seeking safety in external people, places and food and discovered how to find safety inside myself. This lead me to stop binge eating, stop shaming myself into weight loss and live with a deep sense of love & trust for my body.

And I have made it my lifes work to support beautiful humans, like you to experience that too.

 
 

 FAQ’s

  • Live calls are on Wednesd ys 6.30 - 8.00 pm (GMT).

    Replays will always be available so don't worry if you happen to miss one.

  • It is vital for this kind of work that we move slowly. The gentle way is the fast way. Every one of you is unique and will require a slightly different way of working with this.

    I have designed this with online learning and home explorations so that you can take your time with it and so that it fits your needs, your pace and your time availability.

    Live sessions are 90 minutes and then you will also receive additional resources that vary in length from week to week. I would suggest having 1 hour aside each week in addition to our calls.

    This is a forever journey and you will have access to all of the resources so it's really up to you how you approach it.

    What I want to add here, is that a lot of what we do, will be about micro integrations into your life - 30 seconds, several times a day. A gradual titration.

  • Yes my love ! You have access to everything forever so that you can continue to develop your relationship with your body and nervous system way after the programme finishes.

  • I hear you my love. -most people are ! I can assure you that there is so much medicine in hearing other peoples stories and having their support too. There is also so much you will learn about holding space for yourself through holding space for others through this group process.

    Everything we do in group is optional and you always have the option to take space and step out where needed.

  • All live calls will be held on Zoom.

  • I know that feeling - even when you feel you’ve tried so many approaches like intuitive eating, talk therapy etc.

    Most are missing the teaching of learning how to meet your nervous system and body in a way that lets you give yourself what you truly need in each moment.

    Somatics has always been the missing piece for me and for my clients. And I believe it could be for you too.
